I believe that medicine is for those who can’t imagine doing anything else. Before pursuing medicine, make sure it’s what you truly want. Try to gain some clinical experience and spend time shadowing and talking with physicians. Be able to reflect on the kind of career and lifestyle that comes along with the job of a physician. Because medical school is such a long term commitment, a clear understanding of what that commitment entails is paramount.

change and transformation–because you will be changed, by the process and by your experiences in medicine. It is an important choice to make it for good.

Make sure you really want it. And if somewhere along the way you don’t think you will be happy, that’s ok. Find something that will. Just remember to work hard. Work hard, and stay humble.

Make sure you are going into this for the right reasons. It’s easy to do what our parents want us to do, what we think will get us the most money, following the dream or the glory. Remember that this career is more than a career; It is a lifestyle. Medicine is the only job that you never leave at the office, you are always a doctor, you are always learning, and you can never turn that off. Make sure that you are going into this because it is something you love passionately, anything less and you will most certainly burn out. The classes, the long nights, those are nothing compared to the actual job that comes once you achieve your acceptance. Good luck to everyone!

Don’t forget to take care of yourself – get rest, exercise, eat well, take time to relax, and so forth. You can work hard when you need to work hard, but being under chronic stress will lead to burnout!

Don’t let anyone push you into medicine. Go into medicine because you love it not because others think highly of the field. Furthermore, medicine is a difficult field with many challenges and it takes perseverance to climb to the top. However, people have achieved these goals and it is do-able but it takes a lot of effort and dedication.

The one piece of advice I have for anyone who is interested in a career in medicine is to be persistent and to keep your goal in mind at all times. Even if you seem to falter sometimes, keep going for your goal. It might take you longer sometimes, and it might be really frustrating sometimes but just remember what you’re working for. Keep that white coat in mind!

The one piece of advice I would give to someone pursuing medicine is to not let your head get to you too much. Sometimes, you may convince yourself you shouldn’t be here, but someone thought you worthy
enough, smart enough to put you in medical school. Don’t get too discouraged when something doesn’t go your way once or twice. Learn to roll with the punches and come out fighting on the other side.

you need to work hard and know you are willing to do this. make sure you’ve looked at all of your options in the world and if pursuing medicine is your number one choice then go do it but remember it’s going to take a lot of things from your part in order to get through what’s about to happen in your life. and when you finish, smile, be happy, and be healthy!
